About great china
Great China was established in Berkeley in 1985 by Mike and Jenny Yu. The original location was on Kittredge Street next to the famed California Theatre, however a fire in 2012 forced the restaurant to close and reopen in its current location. Today brothers James and Tai Yu carry on the family legacy. For decades Great China has served as a favorite lunch and dinner spot for UC Berkeley faculty, students and locals alike. Many long time patrons will recognize our lead server Linda Wang, who has been with Great China since the beginning. Nicole Lauga is our hospitality specialist. The lead chefs have been working at Great China for over 20 years and the wok line chefs combine for over 100 years of experience.
